I would give a higher review , however, the format for the kindle is not really great. The words are very small and I cannot enlarge them. I tried with my kindle app on my Ipad, as well on my actual kindle e-reader. For this very reason, I'm getting a headache trying to read this book. As for the content of the book it self, I would give it 3-4 stars. If you haven't done much research on how to study for the USMLE or COMLEX on your own yet, then this would be a useful book. As I've spoken with lots of upperclassmen and have done research on how to study, this book seems to repeat a lot of what I've heard. I guess, for me, its most useful quality is that it takes all that advice I've heard and puts it in one place. Also, I go to the same school as the authors, so that's probably why I've heard most of this advice. It's probably trickled down to my year.Product details

I FOUND THIS BOOK VERY USEFUL TO STUDY FOR STEP 1 BUT 1 THING I DISLIKE IS THAT THE EBOOK VERSION OF THIS BOOK IS VERY BAD CANT ABLE TO READ THE TEXT EVEN ON THE RETINA DISPLAY IPAD PROPERLY.................

I felt so much better about how to prepare after reading this book. I now have a plan that I'm confident will work for me. Word of caution this book is best for those that have at least a year to prepare. I've begun to implement the advice given. I'll update this review when I'm closer to the test date.
I've always been very proactive, and to prep for the USMLE Step 1, I've read a number of books on how to study for/approach the test. The best option out there is How to Study for the USMLE by Armin Kamyab which provides a concrete method, discusses how to make notes (and gives examples!), and gives a detailed study schedule. After reading Dr. Kamyab's book, I was so inspired that I decided to order this book by Adesina and Taha. It turned out to be a waste of money. The book is too general. It goes over common sense info like visualize material to remember it better, do lots of practice tests, and integrate instead of memorizing. The one positive about this book is that unlike Dr. Kamyab's book, it does include a resources section that names books to use for each subject.
The target audience of this book is narrow-very narrow. I do not fault the authors for this as they write from their experiences and therefore are proficient on that level. As someone who is a foreign medical student, probably only 25% of this book applies directly to myself and those in a similar position.
The book is geared towards very young medical students who are in the happy position of only having to attend classes, study, eat and sleep. Anyone who does not fall into this category, nor who is not an American medical student, will find that much of the advice is not only not geared towards them, but may well be unrealistic, if not downright impossible to follow.
That being said, I found the study text, question bank and course recommendations, as well as the sample questions and guide to taking the questions rather helpful. While there are many questions in USMLE World that cannot be answered using the strategy of reading the question stem without reading the entire vignette, there are some which can be answered in this way-which is a real time saver. Overall, it was a quick and easy read. I would imagine that it can be especially helpful for the American student who may be somewhat unsure about the exam.
